A missing baby in the UK after weeks of searches has been found dead. As the police said, the two-month-old child was discovered in a wooded area near the southern English city of Brighton.

The police had launched a large-scale search operation after the parents, who had also been missing for weeks, were found nearby on Monday.

They had been arrested on suspicion of neglect and involuntary manslaughter. The couple had been hiding from police for weeks after they were reported missing in early January. Despite the freezing temperatures, they are said to have slept outdoors with the newborn.

According to the BBC, the father is a convicted sex offender who is said to have served a 20-year sentence in the United States before coming to Britain in 2010. The mother comes from a wealthy noble family but became estranged from her family after meeting her partner. A tip from the public led to the arrest of the couple.
