Eleven of the total of 18 towers planned by Gaudí on the Sagrada Familia are now complete. Among them are also three in the central part of the church, of which the two lit up for the first time with a height of 135 meters. The tops of all three central towers together shone impressively in the dark on Friday evening.
Gaudí started building his church in 1882 without any permission. He worked tirelessly on his work until he was hit by a tram in June 1926 and died a few days later. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death, the basilica was supposed to be finished in 2026 – but the construction work had to be interrupted due to the corona pandemic. There is no new target date for the completion of the magnificent building.
