The Civil Guard arrested two people in Soria last weekend as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of robbery and theft by taking 148 40-inch televisions from a truck parked in Calatayud (Zaragoza) and transporting them in another that was stolen in La Muela . In addition, the investigations continue, so more arrests are not ruled out, according to sources from the armed institute on Tuesday.
Last Saturday, May 14, at 08:00 a.m., a telephone call informed the Soria Civil Guard that a truck was circulating “erratically and with many difficulties” around the curves of Galiana – between San Leonardo and Ucero. Immediately, a patrol detected the vehicle when it was accessing the A-2 Highway, in San Esteban, so it decided to stop it, at which point the driver and an occupant left the truck and fled on foot, heading to the Douro river.
The patrols ensured circulation on the highway and then spread out to locate the escapees. One of them was located lying on the ground between a barley and the other, two hours later, in the vicinity of the Duero river, but when he was surprised he threw himself into the river, where he was reduced with symptoms of hypothermia.
While some components carried out the tracking, others stayed next to the truck making arrangements about its property, which resulted in the same having been stolen the night before in the town of La Muela (Zaragoza) and that its box was empty, but Upon inspection, it was found that it was carrying 148 televisions of 40 inches each.
Regarding the origin of the televisions, it was learned that they had been stolen on the night of Saturday May 14 to 15 from inside a truck parked in the Calatayud service area (Zaragoza), and that the perpetrators were surprised by the driver of the truck who was resting in the cabin, who left the place hastily. This driver filed the complaint at a Police Station of the National Police Corps in Coslada (Madrid).
