Kilian Jornet won ZegamaAizkorri in the Spanish Basque Country, opening the Golden Trail World Series 2022. The new world trail signer record was broken by 8 minutes and it is now the 10th win for the ogre.
Jornet won in 3h36’45 over these 42km and 2736m, just ahead of Davide Magnini (33h39’31), and Manuel Merillas (33h45’41). In the 2019 edition, Thibaut Baronian from France finished third just ahead Remi Bonnet (6th) and 7th (7th).
Rising star Nienke Biekman from the Netherlands (4:16.42) won the title. Lucille Germain, from France (4:53:51), was 15th.
The next event in the Golden Trail World Series is scheduled for June 26th, during the Mont-Blanc Marathon.
