The police will target the scene of car tuners and speeders on Good Friday. All seven police headquarters in Hesse would take part in the cross-state day of action, said the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) in Wiesbaden. For example, vehicles are stopped and checked for illegal tuning and speed checks are carried out. In this way, among other things, banned car races are to be prevented. The focus of the controls is in the metropolitan areas, officers are deployed both in uniform and in civilian clothes.

The car fans can face severe penalties, so illegal races are threatened with high fines, points in Flensburg or the withdrawal of their driver’s license. In the scene, the meetings on Good Friday are also referred to as “Car Friday”.

During the day of action last year, the Hessian police checked around 1,400 vehicles, finding 46 criminal offenses and around 440 administrative offences. For example, at the ICE train station in Limburg, many drivers of tuned vehicles met at the time, according to the information, they were “predominantly peaceful and reasonable”.
