A 26-year-old crashed into a stationary tractor-trailer on Autobahn 5 in the Karlsruhe district and died. The van driver veered to the right between Kronau and Bruchsal on Wednesday night for reasons that are still unclear, as a police spokeswoman explained in the morning. On the hard shoulder he then drove into the tractor-trailer that was there because it had broken down.
The 26-year-old was trapped in the collision and suffered fatal injuries. The 59-year-old tractor-trailer driver was slightly injured. In the direction of Karlsruhe, two lanes of the A5 were closed in the morning due to rescue work.
