At the traditional Santa Claus swim in Lindau on Lake Constance, 20 brave people dared to enter the 7 degree cold water on Saturday. Around midday, the 15 men and 5 women plunged into the Lindau harbor basin and swam around 800 meters long, as Thomas Freitag, chairman of the Lindau water rescue service, said. Two swimmers even went into the lake without a wetsuit.

Several hundred onlookers came to the Lindau harbor to watch the spectacle. After the swimming session, the women and men were given goulash and hot punch to fortify themselves. According to the water rescue service, the St. Nicholas Swim in Lindau has been taking place for more than 30 years.
