The party season in Mallorca starts again. From Friday the cult bars really get going. For many party vacationers, it’s the first big party after winter, and that’s why they celebrate excessively. A year ago it was particularly bad.

“It was worse than ever before,” Beatrice Ciccardini, landlady of the “Zur Krone” pub, remembers last year’s start. Drunks threw up in the streets, got into fights and generally showed a severe lack of good manners. “Then God and the world travel to Playa de Palma. It’s the pure Ballermann audience,” she says. The “Bierkönig” also celebrates its three-day start to the season from Friday, and the “Megapark” follows in the week after.

The opening parties are not the actual opening of the bars. The “Bierkönig” is open all year round, the “Megapark” opened its doors again at the end of March. The season just starts with a big bang.

Drinking tourism is no longer desirable

However, the discotheques try not to let the parties get completely out of hand. Drinking tourism is no longer desired on Mallorca. Last year, the nightclubs adopted a code of conduct, according to which drunk people are no longer allowed in and a minimum of clothing is required. “You can tell that people are paying more attention,” says Ciccardini. After the bang at the start, which was particularly violent because of the long Corona break, the situation calmed down a bit over the course of last summer.

Especially since the “Megapark”, the largest dance temple at Ballermann, is breaking new ground. Songs about sex, alcohol and drugs should no longer get a stage. A large investment has been made in a laser show intended to evoke glamorous parties on the neighboring island of Ibiza. There will also be a number of new artists. Jürgen Drews has ended his career as “King of Mallorca”.
