Exactly three weeks after the severe earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, the earth shook again in the Turkish province of Malatya. At least one person was killed and 69 injured, the state news agency Anadolu reported on Monday. The quake had a magnitude of 5.5 and its epicenter in Yesilyurt Municipality, according to the Kandilli Earthquake Observatory.

Malatya province was also hit hard by the violent February 6 earthquake. Mayor Selahattin Gürkan told broadcaster Habertürk that around 2,300 people died in Malatya alone. According to official information, more than 44,000 people have died in Turkey alone and at least 5,900 people in Syria as a result of the double earthquakes and their consequences.
