The National Police has arrested three people in the Valencian town of Alzira – two men and a woman, between 28 and 43 years old – for organizing a shipment of cocaine last year, by the method of ingesting capsules, in which he died , in the hospital after being arrested, the person who acted as “mule”.
The investigations began at the end of May of last year, after the arrest of a 47-year-old man, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, when he tried to introduce cocaine from the Dominican Republic, inside his body, reports the Headquarters in a statement.
The “mule”, which is how people who ingest drug capsules to introduce them illegally into the country are known, was transporting 97 highly pure cocaine capsules weighing approximately 1,000 grams.
The man died in hospital, after his arrest, as his body absorbed the contents of one of the capsules.
As a result of these events, the procedures and home searches began, both in the hotel room where the deceased had stayed, and at his home, determining without any doubt the responsibility of a couple in the recruitment of this person, organization of the trip, purchase of the narcotic substance at origin and logistics.
As a result of the investigations, last September, the couple, a woman and a man, were arrested as alleged perpetrators of crimes against public health and reckless homicide.
A home search was carried out in which it was determined that although they had organized the shipment of the deceased from the South American country, they would not have the economic capacity on their own to pay all the expenses accrued from such an operation, for which the agents investigations aimed at locating a fourth person (financer) continued.
Finally, the fourth member of the drug shipment operation using a “mule”, a 43-year-old man, who has been arrested, has been identified as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of reckless homicide and against public health. Those arrested, without police records, have gone to court.
