Among the speakers at the demonstration was Ofri Bibas, whose one-year-old nephew Kfir is the youngest hostage still held by the Islamists. She demanded that the fate of the hostages “not be forgotten.”

At dawn on October 7, hundreds of fighters from Hamas and allied Islamist groups crossed into southern Israel from the Gaza Strip. They killed hundreds of people in the most cruel way in several towns and at a music festival. According to a count by the AFP news agency, they murdered around 1,170 people and more than 250 people were kidnapped as hostages in the Gaza Strip. About 130 of them are still being held, and more than 30 of them are presumed dead.

In response to the attack, Israel launched a massive military operation in the Gaza Strip, initially primarily in the north of the Gaza Strip, then in the city of Khan Yunis, which is considered a Hamas stronghold. According to Hamas’ latest figures, which cannot be independently verified, more than 33,100 people were killed.
