Our Lady of Light has once again paraded through the streets of Cuenca, after two years without doing so due to the pandemic, on the day of her festivity, accompanied by the mayor, Darío Dolz, and members of the Municipal Corporation together with the maceros; the president of the Board of Brotherhoods, Jorge Sánchez Albendea, and members of this entity and of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Light; regional and national authorities; the local police chief, José Vidal Tejeda; and representatives of the State Security Corps and Forces.
Numerous people from Cuenca have come along the route to see their Patron Saint and Honorary Mayoress, who has paraded with great brilliance along with the Municipal Music Band, which has enlivened the march.
At 10:00 a.m. the procession began from the Church of the Virgen de la Luz, which has passed through Palafox, Peso, Solera, Plaza de El Salvador – where the bells of this church have rung as the image of the Patron Saint Cuenca-, Alonso de Ojeda, Las Torres, Aguirre, Carretería and Calderón de la Barca, to close again at the starting point.
Once finished, the concelebrated mass was held and presided over by Bishop José María Yanguas in honor of the Virgen de la Luz.
The acts in honor of Our Lady culminate this Wednesday with the Besamanto and consecration of the children at 5:00 p.m. and later, at midnight, save popular before the altar of the Patron.
