The guilty verdict of Carl Girouard, the author of the Halloween killings in 2020, was greeted with a sigh of relief by the victims and their loved ones.

Minutes after the verdict was released, Suzanne Clermont’s sister-in-law said, “It won’t bring our loved ones back, but society will be protected.”

For the relative of Ms. Clermont, the criminal responsibility of the accused was in no doubt.

“Justice has been served. He did not suffer from schizophrenia and fortunately he is held responsible for his actions,” said the victim’s sister-in-law.

“He is a very dangerous and very malicious individual,” she added.
