Uvalde’s shooting rekindles the heated debate about gun control in America. It opposes two fundamentally different visions. Ted Cruz, a Republican senator from Texas, whose connections with the NRA and arms lobby are well-known, chose to defend the presence at each school of an armed officer.

Surprisingly, the ardent progun activist has the solution to stop such killings. He says “lock the backdoors,” which he explains in this video.

He explains that “one of the things everyone agrees upon is not having all those rear doors unlocked.” To enter or leave the school, you only need one door. We also need an armed officer at the gate. We would still have 19 children and two teachers alive if it had been this way when the psychopath arrived. He wouldn’t have been able to purchase two AR-15 assault rifles.

As it should, Ted Cruz will attend the NRA’s annual convention, high mass, this Friday. It is held three days following the murder in Houston, Texas, which is a few hundred km from Uvalde.

According to the NRA the attendees at the large meeting will “reflect” upon what happened in Uvalde and “pray for those who were hurt.” Joe Biden attacked the powerful organization, claiming that it was innocent of any responsibility for the murder, and denouncing the “act of an isolated, disturbed criminal”.

The shooter also killed two teachers and 19 children at the school. Joe Biden will be arriving in Uvalde on Sunday, May 29, at 9:15 a.m. According to a White House statement, the US president and Jill Biden will “share the grief with the community”.
