The Councilor for Culture, Teo García, has highlighted the upward trend that the Teatro de Rojas has had in terms of the number of spectators during 2021, in which 115 performances were scheduled. According to the data offered by the mayor, more than 24,238 spectators attended the different activities scheduled at the municipal coliseum, almost 10,000 more than in 2019.

Teo García, who has appeared this Monday at a press conference to offer the summary of activities of the Teatro de Rojas during the year 2021, has highlighted that the children’s theater has been the one that has registered the highest occupation with about 80 percent and 2,704 attendees.

In addition, the school activities that have been scheduled have allowed some 1,000 children to come to the municipal coliseum.

“Between this year and the next we will reach pre-pandemic occupancy levels,” the mayor has advanced.

As for those attending the performing arts shows during 2021, more than 18,044 people have enjoyed this activity, which has meant 65.4 percent; The municipal film club was attended by a total of 4,075 spectators, 61.1 percent.

Added to these data are the 1,200 people who participated in some of the institutional events scheduled by the theater in 2021, and the nearly 1,000 schoolchildren who took part in the teaching activities offered by the City Council to educational centers in the capital through the ‘Toledo Educa’ program to bring students closer to the municipal theatre.

Within this summary, the number of functions and activities carried out during 2021, 115 in total, and the number of days scheduled for the public, 103 days, are also reflected. Of the former, 35 were for theatre, 9 for music, 13 for dance, 6 for lyrical and musical theatre, 16 for children and family, and 28 for cinema.

The weekly average of activities and performances to the public is set at 3 days, the flow of spectators at 655 people per week and the total time the room was open to the public was 37 weeks.
