The ‘Case-in-law’ reaches Congress through an oral and written question from the PP to the central government to clarify whether it is going to pardon the former high-ranking official of the Vigo City Council who was sentenced, in a sentence confirmed by the Supreme Court, to more than five years in prison for having favored the hiring of a sister-in-law of the deputy mayor of the city and president of the Pontevedra Provincial Council, Carmela Silva, for a job she did not do.
Specifically, the Galician popular deputies will question the Executive of Pedro Sánchez if he will grant a pardon to this man who, in the letter sent to the Ministry of Justice, recalls that he dedicated “practically all” of his life to defending the rights of workers and which is affiliated with the UGT and the PSOE, among other issues, reports Europa Press.
In this context, the PP deputy for Pontevedra, Diego Gago, assured this Saturday that, if the Government finally adopts this measure, “it would no longer be a pardon, it would be an insult to democracy, to the separation of powers and to all the people of Vigo and honest viguesas who receive a payroll at the end of the month for going to work«.
In fact, he has asserted that it would be a “new political pardon” comparable, in his opinion, with the one approved this week by the Council of Ministers for the president of the Free Childhood association, María Sevilla, a “protected of Podemos” sentenced to two years and four months in prison for child abduction and the loss of parental authority over her son for four years.
Likewise, Diego Gago has lamented that in the ‘sister-in-law case’ neither the president of the Pontevedra Provincial Council nor the mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, have given “any type of explanation or assumed responsibilities.”
