Agents of the National Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in Valencia as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of attempted sexual assault and attack on law enforcement officers, after being surprised when he allegedly retained and forcibly transferred to an area dark to a woman who had passed him on the street.

As reported by the Superior Headquarters in a statement, the events occurred around 3:00 a.m. last Saturday, when the agents who were carrying out prevention work observed a man who was covering his head in a vacant lot near Río Tajo street in the capital. wearing a black cap and “roughly” grabbing a woman by the hip, whom he was moving by hand to an area of ​​”poor visibility”, apparently against her will.

Immediately, the agents went to the man and stopped him, at which point he released the woman, who began to call the police “in an obvious state of nervousness.” The young man took off his cap and fled, ignoring the instructions of the police officers.

Quickly, one of the officers ran after the suspect, whom he managed to catch up with. The alleged perpetrator of the events allegedly attacked the agent, who was able to observe how the man was wearing his pants “unbuttoned and slightly lowered, presenting an obvious erection.”

After struggling with the suspect and asking for reinforcements due to his “great resistance”, the agents finally managed to subdue him. After interviewing the victim, who was “crying and in a great state of nervousness”, the police found out that, moments before, the woman had crossed paths with the suspect, whom she did not know at all, on Avenida de los Naranjos, and this “without saying a word”, grabbed her strongly, getting to lift her off the ground against her will, and dragged her towards a dark area.

The alleged perpetrator of the events did not release her, despite the fact that the woman asked him “insistently” for fear of being sexually assaulted, until the police patrol appeared. The detainee, without a police record and of Ecuadorian nationality, was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of attempted sexual assault and attack on law enforcement agents and has already been brought to justice.
