The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has closed the investigation against the current Minister of Culture of the Generalitat, Natàlia Garriga, and leaves her one step away from trial for an alleged crime of disobedience, linked to the preparations for the illegal referendum of the October 1, 2017, when she was director of the Vice Presidency and Economy and Finance Services.

In an order, dated May 26, the magistrate Maria Eugènia Alegret has declared the summary against Garriga concluded, investigated for intervening in the conditioning of a ship attached to the facilities of the Center for Telecommunications and Information Technologies (CTTI) to use it as a space for voting.

In her statement as investigated before the court last March, the counselor alleged that the ship was used on other occasions, such as in the regional elections in December, as well as to house the Covid trackers during the pandemic, and recalled that in no time was required by the Constitutional Court (TC).

Garriga, who is registered, is in the same procedure that is followed in the TSJC against the ERC deputy and former Secretary General of the Vice Presidency and Economy Josep Maria Jové and the also Republican deputy and former Secretary of the Treasury Lluís Salvadó, for participating in the organization of the 1-O.

In the case of the two politicians, they are being investigated for the alleged crimes of embezzlement, prevarication, disobedience and disclosure of secrets, and the three were arrested in the Civil Guard operation on September 20, 2017.
