The judge of the National Court José Luis Calama, instructor of the so-called Pegasus case, ratifies the request of the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, to testify in writing in the case in which he investigates the infection of the mobile phones of the President of the Government and of several ministers, through the Pegasus computer tool between the months of May and June 2021. The magistrate now gives three days to the Public Prosecutor and the State Attorney so that they can present the corresponding list of questions.
In an order notified today, the magistrate explains that on June 23 he proposed to the Minister of the Presidency to testify via videoconference. A statement that would be verified on the dates and times indicated by the witness himself, in order not to alter the functions inherent to his position.
The judge gave him three days to opt for this possibility.
Calama explains that the witness has allowed the indicated period to end without making any statement in this regard, so such a position, adds the magistrate, leads him to make a written statement and “leads us to understand that the option offered for the purposes of to give a testimonial statement through videoconference, and for ratifying in the same way his decision to accept the procedural privilege established in the aforementioned article 412.2.1 1st Lecrim”.
In another order, Calama rejects the appeal presented by the State Attorney against the decision to admit the appearance of the Association of European Jurists Prolege as a popular accusation.
