Ecoembes has decided to strengthen its governance model with the incorporation of an Advisory Council made up of eleven experts to monitor and make proposals for its Strategic Plan (CAPE), including the former Minister of Equality and current president of the Spanish Network for Sustainable Development, Leire Pajín.
As explained by the environmental organization in a statement, this new advisory body’s main function is to advise the Board of Directors in relation to the strategic positioning of Ecoembes, as well as to assess the degree of progress of the initiatives launched by the organization. All this, so that their discussions, conclusions and proposals contribute to the organization’s decision-making process.
“The new Advisory Council constitutes an exceptional space in our renewed governance model and an opportunity to advance our firm commitment to circularity,” said the CAPE secretary and director of external relations at Ecoembes, Begoña de Benito.
This new advisory council, which will meet three times a year, is made up of eleven representatives from fields such as environmentalism, innovation, sustainability, consumption, or trade unions. Among its main competencies, it stands out to assess the regulatory, social and economic context and, on the other hand, to study the progress and projects implemented in the Strategic Plan to date.
In addition to Pajín, members of this Advisory Council include Lluís Recoder, former Minister of Territory and Sustainability of the Government of Catalonia; Silvina Bacigalupo, president of Transparency International Spain; Carlos Mataix, director of the Center for Innovation in Technologies for Human Development at the Polytechnic University of Madrid; Fernando Moner, president of the Valencia Association of Consumers and Users; Vicente López, director of the Labor, Environment and Health Trade Union Institute (ISTAS-CCOO); Jose María Bonmatí, General Director of the Association of Consumer Goods Companies (AECOC); Carmen Planas, vice president of Cepyme; Fernando Valladares, doctor in Biological Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid and Elsa Arnaiz, president and general director of Talent for the Future.
The Chairman of this Council, Lluís Recoder, has stated that he assumes this new responsibility as “an opportunity” to contribute with his vision and proactive approaches to the Ecoembes roadmap.
