Negotiations can start at the beginning of the school year “without violence”. The new Minister for Labor Olivier Dussopt, and Olivia Gregoire, the government spokesperson, drew Tuesday, May 24, the outline of the timetable to reform pensions, which Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne plans to implement despite her disapproval.
Olivier Dussopt envisions that negotiations will begin on RTL in September or October, “with a timeline which will need to account the period for consultation, negotiation, formalization and agreement”.
He also spoke out about the controversial postponement on the retirement age. “64 years is an objective that has been established and that is already in the texts mechanically,” he stated. We are open to discussion.
He promised that he would consult with the government to implement this reform.
The same story goes for Olivia Gregoire, government spokesperson who assures that consultations will resume within the next months and weeks “without violence and taking into consideration the social actors, their point of view”.
Olivier Dussopt declared Monday that he would meet with the social partners for “all week” to discuss their projects and expectations, and “immediately establish working relationships”.
Laurent Berger, secretary general of CFDT, has reiterated that the “social emergency” is not pensions. It is purchasing power, employment and the evolution of work relationships.
He warned that there will not be any discussion with the CFDT during the summer about pensions.
