The Diputación de Alicante has formalized a protocol of action with the business federations FEMPA and FOPA and the professional associations of Civil Engineers, Canals and Ports, Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Technical Engineers of Public Works. At the meeting, which has had the visit of the president of the provincial institution, Carlos Mazón, and the assistance of the vice president and deputy for the Water Cycle, Ana Serna, the attendees have promised to work to raise awareness among the municipalities and the sector of the need to promote sustainability in the construction and improvement of infrastructures.
Javier Gutiérrez, deputy for Infrastructures, explained that “it is a historic agreement, for which there are no precedents in the sector, with which we want to advance in compliance and regulatory development hand in hand with all the actors that can help achieve this objective global and transversal.
In this sense, he clarified that “what is intended is to spread good practices in construction, influence not only sustainability but also innovation and promote traditional Mediterranean architecture compared to other regulatory systems that do not have classical solutions in construction».
The agreement, with a duration of one year, establishes the development of cooperative actions agreed upon within a commission. Among them, the organization and participation in events, promoting prizes to encourage the execution of infrastructures from the perspective of sustainability, preparation of manuals, practical guides or publications to disseminate the objectives set are contemplated.
The event, held at the Diputación de Alicante, was attended by the presidents of the Federation of Public Works of the province of Alicante (FOPA) and the Federation of Metal Employers of the province of Alicante (FEMPA), Javier Gisbert and Luis Rodríguez , respectively; the president in Alicante of the College of Architects of the Valencian Community, Emilio Vicedo; the dean of the Association of Technical Engineers of Public Works of Alicante, Eduardo Vílchez; the president and vice-president of the Official College of Quantity Surveyors, Technical Architects and Building Engineers of Alicante, Carlos Casas and Jaime Ayela; and the representative from Alicante of the demarcation of the Valencian Community of the College of Civil Engineers, Canals and Ports, Andrés Rico.
