The Provincial Council of Alicante participates for the tenth consecutive year in the events scheduled for the International Museum Day (DIM) with a wide range of activities that will be offered from Wednesday at the MARQ, the Mubag and the Alicante Institute of Culture Juan Gil Albert.

The vice president and deputy for Culture, Julia Parra, has detailed that activities have been prepared for audiences of all ages, among which she has highlighted “the inauguration of a new exhibition at the MARQ and a gladiatorial combat in its gardens and guided tours free at the Gil-Albert Institute and at the Mubag».

The MARQ has oriented this day to learn about other civilizations, such as the Iron Age castreña, through the exhibition «El Guerrero Atlántico», which will open on Wednesday, May 18, or the Roman one through «Gladiadores.

Heroes of the Coliseum”, an exhibition that has different resources such as easy reading, 3D reproductions, sign language, or braille reading to improve accessibility for all audiences.

On Wednesday 18 there will be a guided tour of the Middle Ages Room together with the workshop “Work like a medieval potter”, with the participation of the Training and Employment group of the Alicante Association of Down Syndrome, as well as the workshop «My gladiator shield» focused on the children of the Hospital Pedagogical Unit of the Hospital of Alicante. In the afternoon there will be a workshop around the exhibition “The Atlantic Warrior” for children between 6 and 12 years old.

In addition, the gardens of the MARQ will be the scene on Saturday night (20:00) of a gladiatorial combat. This show will be carried out by the Hispania Romana Association, which will represent the development of a confrontation and the rules of combat. Also on Sunday, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., this association will represent “The Matrona’s dressing table”, in which the toilet and beauty tools of a Roman matron will be displayed. Both activities are free access.
