Good personal contact with my patients is important to me. I often make notes in my file on the computer – as a reminder. So that next time I know what women’s life is about or what moves them. Then it says: studying speech therapy. Or: has just separated from her husband. Or: go to Canada as an au pair.

With one patient, however, I didn’t need to make a note – I will always remember her that way. First: because I was totally flabbergasted. Second: because she and her husband were so happy. And thirdly, because I experienced in this case that some things in medicine cannot be explained with the usual logic.
