After the start of the season in Los Alcázares (Murcia), the Balearia WFSS 2022 lands in the Balearic Islands, with the Ibizan Club Náutico de San Antonio in charge of hosting the second stop on the national circuit of this innovative sailing class.
New regatta format
The regatta proposed by the organization of the Balearia WFSS 2022 promises to be completely disruptive, since the entire event will take place aboard a large-capacity boat that will accommodate both participants and fans who want to enjoy the spectacle of this sport in the desired waters of Ibiza.
During the presentation ceremony held in the sports area of the Club Náutic Sant Antoni, Salvador Losa, Ibiza’s sports councillor, declared “Attracting events of this level to Ibiza follows the line that we have set ourselves to promote sports tourism.
A bet that we consider very successful as they are sustainable events, which are held out of season and attract visitors who value the excellence of our natural environment”.
Likewise, Sergio W. Smit, director of the Balearia Wing Foil Spain Series commented on the novelties that will be experienced at the Ibiza stop “First I wanted to thank the Consell de Eivissa and the Sant Antoni Náutic Club for both their fabulous reception and their proactivity to allow us to test this innovative competition format. The wing foil, due to its characteristics, is the only kind of sail that will allow us to get all the sailors on board a boat with almost 200 seats with their boards, foils and sails together with the regatta committee and all the fans. who want to see the competition to take them to the same regatta field. From there, this mother ship will act as a committee boat and, at the same time, as a platform so that fans can see each of the regattas first-hand while everyone enjoys the excellent gastronomy of km 0 of the island, the sun and the environment unique to Ibiza. With this event a new model of sports tourism is being created and Ibiza will once again be an international reference”.
