Munich celebrities and friends of Alfons Schuhbeck supported the star chef convicted of tax evasion on Thursday evening at a premiere in Munich’s “Teatro”. “We have been friends for five decades and we will remain so,” said hit star Marianne Hartl in the gastro theater created by Schuhbeck. “After the whole court story, I think it’s great that he’s turning himself in.”
Schuhbeck’s lawyers had announced shortly before that he would appeal after being sentenced to three years and two months in prison.
On Thursday last week, the district court in Munich I imposed a prison sentence of three years and two months on the 73-year-old for tax evasion. At such a level, parole is no longer possible. According to the court, the prominent chef had smuggled around 2.3 million euros past the tax authorities.
