A woman from Germany died in an accident while hiking with her dog in the Swiss mountains. As the police reported on Wednesday, the 37-year-old had hiked from a cable car station to the Sunnegga Alpe in the Zermatt area (canton of Valais). When her off-leash dog ran to a rock face, the woman followed him and fell about 70 meters.

In the accident that happened on August 16, the German was fatally injured. The dog was rescued unharmed on the edge of the rock. It remained unclear from which region of Germany the woman came. Swiss authorities generally do not disclose details of the origin of foreign accident victims.
