Doris Harroth-Salewski has a crumb problem. Whenever she eats something, it feels as if leftovers get stuck in her throat when she swallows. Above all, crumbly foods such as cake, bread or biscuits cause her problems, but sometimes the feeling just comes out of nowhere. “I can feel it around here,” she says, grabbing her throat with her hand just below the larynx. “Something is wrong there, but it’s hard to look in,” says the 80-year-old.
