Special police forces searched for a possibly armed man in Stuttgart – and arrested a 26-year-old.
The police were deployed to Katharinenhospital in large numbers early at noon. An employee there reported a man who was suspected of being armed, a police spokesman said. According to initial findings, the suspect is said to have left the hospital a short time later.
Airsoft weapon seized
A search led to the trail of a 26-year-old man in the Wangen district of Stuttgart. Special forces arrested him at his home address without resistance in the early afternoon. In the course of this, an airsoft weapon was seized. There was initially no information about the background to the incident. The 26-year-old was released after police measures were completed.
According to the spokesman, it was a larger operation. Some heavily armed police officers were on the move. There was no dangerous situation in the hospital. The population was also not at risk. The police searched the greater Stuttgart area on Friday afternoon. Among other things, a police helicopter and a drone were used.
