The weather becomes unsettled instead of contemplative shortly before Christmas. The year is entering its final phase with a lot of rain and sometimes stormy winds. This Thursday it will be mostly cloudy and rainy; the German Weather Service in Offenbach warned of hurricane-like gusts from the depression “Zoltan” on the coasts and the Alps on Thursday morning.
The German Weather Service (DWD) expects larger amounts of rain in some traffic jams and heavy snowfall in the Bavarian Forest. “The wind field of the storm depression will hit us on Thursday. There will be widespread squalls, especially with the passage of the cold front over the course of Thursday, individual severe squalls,” says meterologist Christian Herold from the weather forecast center. “Even if there are enough hurricane gusts on the coasts and in exposed mountain areas, ‘Zoltan’ will not go down in the history of major winter storms.”
