A week after being sentenced to prison, star chef Alfons Schuhbeck was celebrated at the premiere of a dinner show in Munich’s “Teatro”.

The 73-year-old performed at the conclusion of the show, singing Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” and Elvis Presley’s “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You.” Schuhbeck looked very upset. “I drink two schnapps,” he said after his performance. “The last two weeks haven’t been that great for me.”

It was Schuhbeck’s first major public appearance since being sentenced to prison. On Thursday last week, the district court in Munich I imposed a prison sentence of three years and two months on the TV chef for tax evasion in the millions. Schuhbeck’s lawyers, one of whom was also in the audience that evening, announced just a few hours before the performance that he was appealing the verdict.
