For more than two weeks, army units under the command of military ruler al-Burhan have been fighting the RSF militia led by General Daglo in the north-east African country. According to official figures, more than 500 people have already been killed in the fighting. According to the UN, hundreds of thousands of people were forced to flee.
The parties to the conflict have already agreed on several three-day ceasefires, which have been broken again and again. The recently agreed ceasefire expires on Wednesday.
