It remains wet: Even the weather at the beginning of the new year is unlikely to provide any relief for the residents of flood areas for the time being. On Monday, the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach again predicted a lot of rain for the coming days. In some low mountain ranges, “heavy, continuous rain” may fall on Tuesday. In the middle of winter it remains mild between 5 and 13 degrees. With the exception of the northeast, there may be stormy gusts on Tuesday, and even a severe storm in high altitudes and on the North Sea.
The DWD is also expecting repeated rain showers on Wednesday, with individual thunderstorms in the southwest towards the evening, but hardly any rain in the southeast. Temperatures reach 7 to 14 degrees. Except in the northeast, the wind can blow strongly again. Gusts of wind are expected again in the mountains and on the North Sea.
According to the DWD, rain showers will also fall in some areas on Thursday. In the south they decrease over the course of the day. The temperatures climb to 7 to 13 degrees, in the north of Schleswig-Holstein they remain at around 5 degrees. It remains windy to stormy. According to the DWD, heavy rain will fall from the west on Friday night, while it will mostly remain dry in the southeast.

In the areas marked red there is an official warning for major floods; in regions marked orange there is a conventional flood warning. In the dashed areas there is an advance warning from the responsible authorities. You can breathe deeply in green regions. An all-clear could be issued here. There is no warning in white areas. No data can currently be collected for North Rhine-Westphalia.
One day after Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser also wants to obtain an overview of the flood situation in Lower Saxony on New Year’s Day. In the afternoon (3 p.m.) the SPD politician wants to find out about the situation in Hatten-Sandkrug near Oldenburg and talk to emergency services. She is accompanied by Lower Saxony’s Interior Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD), THW President Sabine Lackner and the President of the Federal Police, Dieter Romann.
In the Celle district, the water level of the Aller has continued to fall. According to the mayor of Celle, Jörg Nigge, there can only be talk of a slight easing of the situation, but not of an all-clear. “The levels are falling, there is relief. But it’s not over yet,” said the CDU politician on New Year’s Eve and also referred to the forecast rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The allergy level in the city of Celle was measured at 4.81 meters at 10 a.m. on New Year’s morning. It has sunk by 17 centimeters within 24 hours. In Langlingen, in the municipality of Flotwedel, which was particularly hard hit by flooding, the water level was 5.44 meters on Monday morning and has therefore also fallen by 17 centimeters compared to the previous day.
