The Bavarian state government will soon be inviting to an international conference on the subject of artificial intelligence. Several hundred guests are expected in the state capital of Munich on February 23 and 24, including international AI experts from science and business. For example, it will deal with the effects of artificial intelligence on people’s everyday lives, on the economy and its potential in solving social and ecological challenges.
Science Minister Markus Blume (CSU) emphasized: “Especially with a view to the major transformations of our time, technological progress needs exchange between science, business and society. Because we want to shape these upheavals according to our values.” The new conference, called “AI.BAY 2023”, should become “the largest international showcase for excellence and progress in the field of artificial intelligence,” he said.
Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) explained: “Artificial intelligence can make our lives better. And we have the know-how for it in Bavaria.” Numerous start-ups, medium-sized companies, corporations and research institutes are already dealing with AI – and the trend is rising. Digital Minister Judith Gerlach (CSU) emphasized: “New technologies such as the AI program ChatGPT show that we have to actively shape progress. We need the know-how for the key technology artificial intelligence here in Bavaria.” The aim is not only to understand AI, but also to shape it.
In Bavaria there is already a state-wide AI network with several hundred actors from science and business. In the future this will appear under the name “baiosphere”. The aim is to establish Bavaria as an international AI hotspot, emphasized Gerlach.
