Nobody wants to meet a wrong-way driver on the Autobahn. It goes without saying that the police were immediately alerted when they were reported to be driving the wrong way on the A9 in Saxony.

Between Zwochau and the Lissa district of the municipality of Wiedemar (both in the district of North Saxony), the officials were actually successful and were able to stop the 29-year-old driver with her car. After that, however, the situation did not develop as expected: according to the police report, the woman’s car was unlit on the left lane between the Wiedemar junction and the Schkeuditzer Kreuz. In order to secure the car, the officers parked their patrol car on the hard shoulder with the blue lights on – apparently a mistake, as it turned out shortly afterwards.

Apparently a good opportunity for the woman: she got into the car and raced away with it. As spectacular as the jaunt with the unfamiliar vehicle may have been for the woman, the consequences are now just as severe: An investigation is now underway against her because she moved a vehicle without authorization and could have endangered road traffic with her journey.

The police had previously noticed the driver because of another incident: on the A9 she was checked at the Kapellenberg rest area after she raced through a section with a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour at 140 things. Both a drug test and a breath alcohol test were negative in this control. After the “kidnapping” of the police car, a blood alcohol test was also ordered.
