Martina Trevisan (59th) is the first player to reach the quarter-finals at Roland-Garros. She defeated Aliaksandra Ssnovich, her Belarusian opponent on Sunday, April 29 in two sets (7-6, 7-5). This is the second time the Italian has reached Paris’s top competition level after 2020, when she reached the quarterfinals.

She said, “Paris is a little like my second home. The atmosphere there is magical. I feel really good on court.” After her win, she smiled hugely. That smile was still present just before she played her match point. “Smiling helps in times of stress. She explained that while it’s not always easy, smiling helps me relax. The victory in Rabat last weekend saw the Italian win her ninth consecutive victory.

In the quarter-finals, @MartinaTrevisa3 beat Sasnovich in two sets.

Trevisan will be facing Leylah Fernandez, a Canadian player (18th in the world), to try and reach the final four. She had difficulties defeating Amanda Anisimova (28th).

The 19-year old is now in the quarters after winning three sets and scoring 91 points. Final score: 6-3.
