The CDU clearly won the vote on February 12. The SPD ended up in second place – according to the preliminary result, however, only a good hundred votes ahead of the Greens.
The state election committee wants to determine the final result of the election on Monday in a public meeting. The RBB reported, citing committee circles, that the meeting documents were sent to all members of the state election committee on Friday evening. It is unclear how the information was made public in advance.
After their election victory, the Christian Democrats already held several exploratory talks with the SPD and separately with the Greens. The third meeting with the Social Democrats took place on Friday, the one with the Greens follows on Tuesday. At the same time, the SPD and the Greens and their previous coalition partner, the Left Party, have already explored twice whether to continue their previous government alliance, which still has a majority. The third meeting of the previous partners will take place on Monday at the same time as the meeting of the election committee.
