Manchester United are looking for more reinforcements in the winter. The Red Devils focus primarily on the right side of defense. Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is said to be one of the candidates.
With five goals this season, Jeremie Frimpong is currently Leverkusen’s top scorer. The 21-year-old Dutchman is more offensive this season than last season. Frimpong was already one of the best right-backs in the Bundesliga in 2021/22. With his performances, he now seems to have moved into the focus of Manchester United.
As Sky reports, the Red Devils are looking for reinforcements for the right side. Frimpong is said to be one of the contenders on United’s list for a winter transfer.
Under Erik ten Hag, Diogo Dalot is currently on right-back. The Portuguese’s contract expires – as of now – at the end of the season. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, on the other hand, is only a replacement and is one of the possible sales candidates.
According to Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, the right side of defense has absolute priority in winter. However, signing Frimpong would be expensive for Man United. The 21-year-old still has a contract with Leverkusen until 2025 (market value: 25 million euros). In January 2021, Bayer 04 signed the right-back from Celtic Glasgow for eleven million euros. Frimpong was trained at United city rivals Manchester City.
At the moment it seems hard to imagine that the Werkself would let a top performer like Frimpong go in the middle of the season. Especially not in the current precarious sporting situation.
