Today is the last day for eligible residents in California to register to vote in time for the November 5, 2024, Presidential General Election – only 15 days away. If you haven’t registered yet, you can do so online through the Secretary of State’s website, registertovote.ca.gov. If you miss the deadline, you can still complete the Same-Day Voter Registration, known as Conditional Voter Registration.

To be eligible to register, you must be a United States citizen, a resident of California, at least 18 years old on Election Day, not currently serving a state or federal prison term for a felony conviction, and not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court. Once registered, you can make a plan for how you will cast your ballot – whether by mail, at a Vote Center, or an Official Drop Box.

All active registered voters will receive a Vote-by-Mail packet, which must be returned and postmarked by Election Day and received by the office within seven days. Matt Moreles, Acting Registrar of Voters, emphasizes the importance of registering before today’s deadline and encourages all eligible residents to take action.

Remember that every single vote counts and can make a difference, as seen in the recent tie in the March Primary. Make sure to visit registertovote.ca.gov to register, update, or check your registration status. For more information, you can contact the Registrar of Voters’ Office at (408) 299-VOTE (8683) or toll-free at (866) 430-VOTE (8683), or visit www.sccvote.org.

It is crucial for eligible residents in California to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming Presidential General Election. Your vote matters, and registering to vote is the first step in making sure your voice is heard. Don’t miss the deadline, take action today and register to vote before it’s too late.
