A speeder triggered a large-scale police operation in Regensburg. In order to stop the driver, a police officer shot “several times” at the car’s tires last night, as the spokesman for the Oberpfalz police headquarters, Claus Feldmeier, said. No one was endangered by the shots.
The man continued to flee on foot. According to the police, numerous emergency services, search dogs and a police helicopter were deployed on Wednesday night to arrest him. The “Mittelbayrische Zeitung” had previously reported.
A civil patrol wanted to check the car at around 6:40 p.m. after the driver noticed “aggressive driving behavior”. But the man evaded control and fled to the underground car park of the tax office.
There, two patrol cars parked the speeder, who nevertheless pressed the gas and rammed a car. An officer then used his firearm. The car came to a standstill on a road a few hundred meters later with flat tires and the driver escaped on foot.
