Natural cosmetics are becoming increasingly important: In contrast to conventional cosmetics, organic care products do not contain any chemical or artificial ingredients, some of which are suspected of being harmful to our health. In addition, they are usually manufactured in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way – and that comes at a hefty price. For this reason, you can take lip care into your own hands and make your own lip balm. This saves money and you also know exactly which (natural) ingredients were used. Below you will find three different recipe suggestions that you can easily make at home.

1. Recipe

You need the following three ingredients:

10g coconut oil

10g shea butter

10g beeswax

You will also need a few small jars (around six) or empty lipstick tubes in which you can then fill and store the lip balm. And if you like, you can also add two to three drops of an essential oil (for example cocoa) to the finished mixture – for an individual scent.

Now it’s time to prepare:

2. Recipe

You need the following four ingredients:

5g honey

5g cocoa butter

5g beeswax

10 ml of jojoba oil

Here, too, you will need an estimated five jars of five milliliters each if you make this lip balm yourself. It is also a good idea to round off the scent with essential oils in this recipe. Which scent is best depends on your personal taste. In this case, vanilla, for example, would work quite well.

Now it’s time to prepare:

First melt the beeswax and then the cocoa butter in the same pot over a water bath and stir the contents.

As soon as a homogeneous mass has been created, remove the container from the water bath and stir the jojoba oil evenly into the mixture.

The honey is only stirred in at the end before you pour the finished lip balm into the tins and let it cool down in the fridge.

3. Recipe

You need the following four ingredients:

2 TL Vaseline

1 TL Honig

2 tsp almond oil

1 TL Lippenstift

The lipstick is primarily used to give the lip balm a nice color. The amount is enough for approximately two cans – if you want to make more, you simply have to adjust the quantities of the ingredients upwards.

Now it’s time to prepare:

Take another small, heat-resistant container such as a glass or a cup and pour all the ingredients into it.

Here too, the ingredients must be melted over a water bath and stirred until a uniform mass is formed.

Last but not least, the finished mixture is divided into the cans and stored in a cool place until the lip balm has hardened.
