There have recently been repeated debates about the obligation to wear a mask on trains: Why do you actually have to wear a mask there while you don’t need one on the plane? Shouldn’t the mask requirement on trains be abolished completely? Most recently, Bavaria decided that there was no longer a requirement to wear masks on regional trains there, thereby rekindling the debate.

A man in Leverkusen shouldn’t have been particularly interested in these discussions: when he didn’t have a mask with him, he behaved in an exemplary manner and didn’t ride on the train. However, the idea he had instead was certainly not what the law enforcement officers wanted: In the Opladen district, he jumped onto the train from outside and drove part of the way there at a speed of more than 100 kilometers per hour With.

It was probably only due to the presence of mind of the train staff that there were no accidents or serious injuries during the action: A train attendant discovered the 36-year-old shortly after departure, as the federal police announced on Monday. The engine driver then immediately initiated emergency braking.

His reason for the dangerous journey was surprising: he told the federal police that he hadn’t had a mask for the train ride.

Now the man not only has to answer for the train journey: the 36-year-old was also wanted by the Koblenz and Bochum public prosecutors for theft and resistance. Criminal proceedings were instituted against him because of the train journey.
