Unknown people attacked and robbed a bakery van in the Neubukow region (Rostock district). The robbery happened early Monday morning on a road between Neubukow and Rerik, a police spokesman in Rostock said. According to the 31-year-old driver, two men are said to have forced him at gun point and a board of nails to stop the white delivery vehicle on the street. Then the income was stolen, it is said to be a sum between 10,000 and 20,000 euros.
Baked goods, which the 31-year-old also delivered to the branches, were not stolen. According to the police, it was initially unclear whether the vehicle ran over the nail board. The driver said he was threatened with a gun.
The vehicle was a delivery van from the company Lila Bäcker, as a spokeswoman for the management of the German Press Agency in Neubrandenburg said. The car was not recognizable as a delivery vehicle due to missing stickers. It is therefore unclear how the perpetrators knew that it was a delivery vehicle.
The perpetrators then fled in an older red car that is said to have had no license plates. Nobody got hurt.
The police secured tracks on the vehicle, but could not track down the getaway car. So far, there is no evidence of a connection with other cases, it said. In the past, there had been repeated attacks on bakery suppliers in the north-east, but mostly when they were at the branches and without looting large sums of money.
On April 12, three masked men in Lübeck (Schleswig-Holstein) attacked a money transport at the headquarters of another bakery chain and stole a six-figure sum. They took a firearm from an employee while he was emptying a safe and fled. At the beginning of March, other robbers armed with submachine guns had probably attacked a money transport near Gützkow in Western Pomerania, opened it by force and fled with a loot of millions. This case is also still unclear.
Lila Bäcker has around 230 branches in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Berlin, Brandenburg and Schleswig-Holstein. This includes a separate logistics company that is based near Wismar and supplies the branches.
