The 90 plus 10 rule: The brain is a concentration expert. When we delve into one problem, it ignores everything else. But after 90 minutes, the upper room needs a break from this strenuous work. A short break of 10 minutes, immediately following a phase of concentration or tension, ensures that the gray cells can continue to do their job optimally. By the way, if you miss a break like this, you automatically start to digress, dawdle or get lost when you quickly look at social media. This is called “masked” breaks. Better to take real breaks if you care about your brain.
