At the start of the new week, the weather in Germany will be windy to stormy and changeable overall. The German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach announced on Friday that the snow line also fluctuates significantly. “For the traffic jams in the higher mountains, there are significant amounts of snow,” said meteorologist Marcel Schmid.

First of all, the prospects for this weekend are brighter. On Saturday, Hoch “Beate” will bring at least some sun to northern and central Germany, as Schmid predicted. While up to six degrees would be reached in the North Sea, it would remain in the mountains with slight permafrost. “For a winter trip to the mountains, warm winter clothing should be considered,” advised the DWD expert.

For Sunday, Schmid promised a “winter wonderland” for the regions south of the Eifel-Lausitz line – provided there is snow. In some areas, “the sun has finally been showing up again for days”. In the northern half of Germany, on the other hand, dense clouds are expected to gather. Especially near the coast it gets uncomfortable with increasing wind and some rain or drizzle.

According to the further forecast, a low spur will move up from the north-west on Monday night, which will initiate a change in the weather. Precipitation – partly rain, partly snow – is to spread towards the south. For the mountains, the DWD expects wintry weather on Monday and heavy snowfalls and drifts in traffic jams. In addition, there is a lot of wind – on the sea and in the mountains with sometimes heavy gusts of wind.
