When Ana Maria Salagean clicked into its yndlingswebshop, Zalando, on Black Friday, she was greeted by a sight that left her stunned and angry.

In just a few hours of progress was the exact opposite of what she had expected of this year’s major tilbudsfest. The prices were not decreased. They were increased.

the Day before – on Cyber Thursday – had Ana Maria visited Zalando to look on a number of deals.

the Prices were so good that she ended up buying three items at the site.

She bought a bag from Calvin Klein as well as a watch and a scarf from Tommy Hilfiger – all with big discounts.

the Day after visited Ana Maria as Zalando again.

And here she could see that the three items, she had bought the day before, was still on offer.

But they had increased in price.

the Bag cost is now 304 pounds 76 dollars more than the day before. The scarf cost now 152 pounds 38 dollars more than the day before.

the Watch cost now 372 dollars to 93 dollars more than the day before.

“I think well enough, it’s too bad,” says the 34-year-old Ana Maria Salagean from Moscow:

“I was going to buy the bag in some other colors on Black Friday, but I thought not, after all, it would be more expensive. Almost all of the products I had seen at Zalando, on Thursday, was more expensive on Black Friday.”

She believes that the customers that have come in to the store on Black Friday to get a good deal, ended up with being cheated.

“I personally have always shopped with Zalando, and I’ve never experienced anything like this. Everything between me and Zalando is now over. I think it is something bad,” says Ana Maria:

“Before shoppede I crazy on Black Friday. It’s over now.”

At Zalando explains that there is a good reason to, that the prices of the things, Ana Maria bought, was lower on Thursday than on Black Friday.

“We ran the Cyber Week on Zalando, and it worked such, that every day we had exceptionally good prices on a new category. On Thursday it was evening wear and accessories, and that is why she got the sharpest prices on the day,” says Anne Vibe Hansen, press officer for Zalando in Denmark:

“On Black Friday we had so the widest range of offers.”

But can you understand that one can get the impression that the Zalando here massaging the prices?

“We have communicated that customers have to turn to on those days, the different categories were the focus,” says Anne Vibe Hansen:

“Prices may change for various reasons, including but not limited to, the availability, sæsonskifte or special offers as in the example of the Cyber Week.”
