Anyone traveling by car between Kiel and the south-east of Schleswig-Holstein has to put up with considerable detours for four weeks. For the expansion of the B404 to Autobahn 21, the route between Klein Barkau and Nettelsee (Ploen district) will be completely closed from this Monday until March 19, as the federal highway company has announced. This is necessary due to earthworks.
The extensive detour in the direction of Kiel leads from the A21 from the Wahlstedt junction via the B205 to the Neumünster-Süd junction of the A7. It is the same route in reverse. The B404 is also completely closed to local traffic between Klein Barkau and Nettelsee during the period mentioned. Bus traffic will also be severely restricted in the area. Alongside the A7, the B404/A21 is the most important north/south axis in Schleswig-Holstein.
By 2026, Autobahn GmbH will expand the B404 between Klein Barkau and Löptin (Ploen district) over a distance of 7.8 kilometers into the A21. So far, this has happened over a distance of around 54 kilometers between Löptin and the A1 near Bargteheide (Stormarn district).
