Poland may be facing a change of government: according to initial forecasts after the polls closed, the opposition is likely to win in the parliamentary election. Former Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s citizens’ coalition and two smaller opposition parties were ahead of the right-wing camp around the ruling PiS. Accordingly, a total of 248 seats are held by the Citizens Coalition, the Third Way and the Left, while the right-wing nationalist PiS and the right-wing extremist Confederation Party together have 212 seats. However, the PiS remains probably the strongest party.
