The previously unknown man asked the traveler on Tuesday whether he needed a painkiller, the federal police said on Wednesday. The 45-year-old then took the tablet. A little later, the 45-year-old was physically very unwell. Alarmed rescue workers took the man to a hospital. It was initially unclear which substance the stranger had offered him as a painkiller. The officials are now investigating on suspicion of dangerous bodily harm.
A Humboldt penguin that had been violently killed was discovered in the enclosure at Rostock Zoo on Tuesday. The Bochum fire brigade freed a man who had fallen several meters and was seriously injured from a shaft. A small dog died in Neubrandenburg because of a poisoned bait laid out on the meadow. An apartment owner caught a 17-year-old burglar in his bathtub in Münster. In Cologne, the verdict in an abuse trial against a former babysitter is expected on Tuesday (11 a.m.). A memorial for fallen Soviet soldiers has been damaged by unknown persons in Genthin (Jerichower Land).
