A 45-year-old was taken to hospital after accepting and taking a pill from a man at Ulm Central Station. The previously unknown man asked the traveler on Tuesday whether he needed a painkiller, the federal police said on Wednesday. The 45-year-old then took the tablet. He later told the police that he had looked weak at the train station.
A little later, the 45-year-old was physically very unwell. Alarmed rescue workers took the man to a hospital. It was initially unclear which substance the stranger had offered him as a painkiller. The officials are now investigating on suspicion of dangerous bodily harm.
A Humboldt penguin that had been violently killed was discovered in the enclosure at Rostock Zoo on Tuesday. Since there were no signs of a fight with a predator, a noticeably smooth cut had been discovered on the neck and in order not to cover up any traces, the police were called, said the zoo spokeswoman. The final results of the pathological examination of the animal are still pending, and the written report from the responsible state office has not yet been received, said a spokeswoman for the zoo on Wednesday. According to the zoo spokeswoman, however, several bite wounds were discovered that indicated a predator, such as a fox. These had been hidden in the plumage and not recognizable at first glance.
According to dpa information, it is likely that a fox killed the penguin. The zoo spokeswoman said that they knew that the zoo was located in a forest and that other animals were also there. However, such incidents are not the rule. As a precautionary measure, the penguins have now been removed from the facility and should initially remain in the neighboring pelican house. The spokeswoman did not say how long. It is being examined to what extent the penguin facility can be secured.

In the course of the swastika affair surrounding a Baden-Baden municipal council, AfD city councilor Martin Kühne has announced his resignation. As the AfD faction of the city parliament explained on Wednesday night, Kühne communicated this decision on Tuesday evening in a letter to Mayor Dietmar Späth (independent). “He has not made any statements to our group about the allegations made against him,” said his group colleague Alexander Arpaschi. When asked, Kühne did not want to comment on Tuesday. Along with Arpaschi, Kühne is one of three AfD city councilors in the spa town.
The Baden-Baden public prosecutor’s office announced at the beginning of the week that a city councilor was suspected of defacing two cars with Ukrainian license plates with the Nazi symbol and also writing the words “Fuck UA” in large letters on the vehicles. For this he received a penalty order in the amount of 50 daily rates, which is not yet legally binding. The incidents reportedly happened in January and March of this year. Town hall chief Späth and the parliamentary groups of the Greens, the Free Citizens for Baden-Baden (FBB), the SPD and the CDU had condemned the incident.
