At first glance, it was a harmless little art exhibition that opened in downtown Shanghai on March 18. Under the title “Three Years, Three People”, paintings and photographs by three artists dealing with the era of the pandemic were shown. There was nothing scandalous about her works, they were quiet ink drawings, calligraphs and black-and-white photos that essentially depicted everyday life in Shanghai during the Corona years: faces with protective masks, queues in front of test centers, deserted streets.
